Redni brojevi

• redni brojevi pokazuju redoslijed → koji po redu

• NE koristimo točku (.) za redne brojeve

• član „the“ najčešće ide uz redne brojeve

Većina rednih brojeva ima nastavak -th.

Svi brojevi će imati nastavak -th osim ako se u broju nalazi → prvi/drugi/treći

Na glavni broj se dodaje nastavak -th

• four = the fourth → 4th

• six = the sixth → 6th

• sve desetice u engleskom završavaju na -ty

• dolazi do promjene: „y“ → i + e zatim se dodaje nastavak -th

Primjer

• 20th – twentieth

• 50th – fiftieth

Mijenja se samo zadnji dio broja.

• 21st – twenty-first

• 22nd – twenty-second

• 23rd – twenty-third

• 24th – twenty-fourth

• 25th – twenty-fifth

• 26th – twenty-sixth

• 27th – twenty-seventh

• 28th – twenty-eighth

• 29th – twenty-ninth

Posebni → uče se napamet

Kad redne brojeve pišemo brojkom dodajemo posebne nastavke:

• one = the first → 1st (prvi)

• two = the second → 2nd (drugi)

• three = the third → 3rd (treći)

Ako ispred rednog broja stoji posvojna riječ → nema „THE“

my, your, his, her , our, their → bez „THE“

• Today is my tenth birthday. → Danas je moj deseti rođendan.

• This is his second cup of tea. → Ovo je njegova druga šalica čaja.

• This is our fifth history lesson. → Ovo je naš peti sat povijesti.

• Our classroom is on the first floor. → Naša učionica je na prvom katu.

• Ann is the second pupil in the line. → Ann je druga učenica u redu.

• May is the fifth month of the year. → Svibanj je peti mjesec u godini.

• They live in the tenth house on the street. → Oni žive u desetoj kući u ulici.
